It is an age old tradition to honour your transition to Mother

As a woman prepares to have a baby she goes through massive change within herself.

Mind. Body. And heart. Each and every time.

With each and every baby you have, you deserve to be nurtured, celebrated and prepared.

Be it your first, second or fifth baby, you are preparing to go through massive transformation that deserves to be honored. And so this Village Mama Blessing day Retreat has been created for you.

And why the Village? Because village matters, and there is nothing like other Mamas sharing this journey to be the most valuable addition to YOUR village.

You have much to gain, and much to share in coming together with other pregnant Mamas on this day of blessings.

Transition to Mama feeling supported in your modern day 'Village'?

Years of caring for Mamas (and our world as it is today)  has me hearing the same message, again and again.

Mamas are feeling alone and isolated.  Many do not have family or friends living close. They feel unsupported. They feel anxious about what is about to happen and who they can turn to.  Age old tradition points again and again to the value in 'village' supporting the Mother. And there is nothing more understanding and supportive than OTHER Mothers sharing this journey with you.

This Mother Blessing Day, shared with OTHER pregnant Mamas is your opportunity to begin connecting you with your Mama Village. To begin honouring you ALL as you deserve. This time of your life is so much more precious and fun when shared with other Mamas. And the friendships born in this time hold a special connection, a strength like no other formed at any other time in your life.

Begin making those friendships now. Before your bub arrives. So that right from the very beginning you know you have your tribe backing you. Cheering you on. Propping you up. HEARING you. Understanding you. Walking this journey with you.

Whether you begin this day with a friend already by your side, or walk in knowing no one, in just a short while you will be forming friendships that I hope will carry on long after the day has closed.  Your connection as Women and Mothers in this circle wll leave you feeling those age old tribal bonds supporting you into and through your postpartum journey.

It is my belief that with a strong community, ALL components of Motherhood are more supported. The tiredness and questions and tears become manageable. The overwhelm less. The precious moments shared are amplified. THe whole Motherhood journey is so much more joyful.

This Mother Blessing Retreat is about creating that connection with likeminded women, Mothers who I hope you will continue to connect with.

It is about celebrating your transition to Mother (or Mother again).

It is about honouring you and preparing you body mind and heart. It is about the practical and the emotional. It is about friendship and more.

Self awareness & celebration

Understand what happens to your mind and body, how you can prepare, repair and evolve to accept your wonderful new you.

We share valuable conversations and precious ceremonial practises together to empower you toward Motherhood.

Sharing as much or as little as you are comfortable in doing.

We take time to discuss and release any fears or apprehensions around birth or beyond, making more space for breathe and peace and joy.

Grow your tribe

No one was meant to parent alone. Village does matter and setting up strong foundations for your modern day tribe is a priceless experience that will leave you feeling supported not only toward birth, but throughout your postpartum.

There is no time like Motherhood to open your heart and create opportuntiy to form friendships with such a powerful shared experience to bond you as Mama tribe.

Beginning right now as you prepare to meet you baby gives you the advantage of connection from the very beginning.

Preparation

Discussions around preparedness for birth, and beyond when you bring baby home are not specifically on the 'practical' alone, but also about your mental and emotional readiness.

About feeling empowered moving forward, and knowing what is important for you. About understanding who to turn to and how to ask for help. How to say 'no thank you'.

It is not just about planning the perfect plan, but discussing how to advocate for yourself no matter where your journey takes you.

This Day is for you if...

  • You are pregnant and preparing to meet your baby
  • You are wanting to connect with other Mamas
  • You are feeling anxious or fearful and have questions around birth or beyond

Meet your hosts

Meet three woman called to support women in their most sacred life transitions

Sharon Arthur

-Your host for the day -

As  a Perinatal doula and massage therapist, my work is all about supporting Mothers in pregnancy and their postpartum year.

I am a HUGE advocate for Mama Tribe building, because yep...VILLAGE MATTERS. Anything I can do to encourage connection and invite all of the random, the awkward the joyful and the funny into conversations is welcome. And with all of that comes shared knowledge and wisdom too. Because it's all of that that begins to build real connections. Friendships.

And it is exactly this that is needed to make your Motherhood journey feel more supported. And more fun.

Bron

-Your  Sound Practitioner -

Bron is a sound practitioner and space holder for women. She utilises sound healing instruments including her VibroAcoustic Sound Lounge, sacred cacao and deep listening and awareness to create a safe and nourishing space for women to come home to themselves, to navigate shifts through sacred rites of passage, life transitions and celebrations.
Over the past 7 years she has walked beside women and couples as a birth and postpartum doula - holding sacred the deep transformations that take place when women lay themselves bare to meet their baby and hold the new mother as she rediscovers herself. Bron holds women through all rites of passage including pregnancy & birth, marriage/divorce, menopause,   new jobs, endings and beginnings.
Her belief that we are not broken or damaged and do not need ‘healing’ rather a safe space and tenderness to let the walls down, unravel and reweave, allows the mind, body and soul to rebalance and realign - to come back to your truest self.  She uses sound, ritual, creativity and play to rediscover or uncover our true self.

Carly Cullen

- Your yoga practitioner -

Carly is a birth worker and yoga practitioner living on Kabi Kabi/Gubbi Gubbi Country (Sunshine Coast).

She blends her birth knowledge with yoga movement, meditation and breath work to facilitate prenatal classes.

Carly guides breathing techniques, functional movement and pelvic floor exercises while honouring pregnancy and birth as a rite of passage.

Do you still have questions?

Some of the questions people most frequently ask us are below.

If you cannot find your answer, please email me on sharon@mamablooming.com.au and I will get back to you asap

What if I run out of time and have my baby before finishing the course?

You have a few options.

This Day is technically about blessing the Mama as she prepares for birth, but certainly if your bub has arrived and IF you felt up to it and really wanted to come, you most are welcome.  Your Mama transition is not an overnight happening. (We will discuss that). There is still so much benefit in this day for you, and of course you are welcome to bring bub along.

There is a very high chance however that you will not feel ready at all and I completely understand that. Do not put yourself under pressure to leave your home until you feel ready. It will not serve you or your baby.

Please contact me as soon as you are certain labour is happening (if possible, or after bub arrives), and we will offer you instead to honour your transition to Mother and need for village by transferring your ticket over to an upcoming 5 week Baby Massage course. (This will mean you can join our Baby Massage at a discounted price) and reap the many benefits (including village building) when you are bub are ready.

Finally if neither of these options work for you, a full refund will be made available to you if bub arrives unexpectedly early.

Ive already had one (or more) babies. Is this any use to me if I'm not a first time mum?

 Absolutely.

With each and every bub a Mother goes through changes in mind and body, and a shift in self awareness and wisdom. And despite the many Mama friends you may already have, there is something special with each bub about connecting with other mums who also have young bubs right now. At this time in their life. We all quickly forget, lots changes, and having others by your side who can really relate because they are there RIGHT NOW, well that is important.

Do I need to have yoga experience to attend?

Absolutely not.

Your day begins with a 1 hour prenatal yoga session. The class is aimed at supporting the pregnant body, wherever you are at, whatever your experience. It is not about keeping up with the woman next to you, but simply moving into what feels right for YOUR body. About helping you feel physically and mentally ready to commit this day to your care. If anything feels wrong or too hard, back off or rest. Only ever do what feels right for you.

But do not fear. Carly will guide you expertly through everything.

I've heard some yoga moves are not safe when you are pregnant?

True. There are certainly some yoga positions that are not advised when pregnant. This is why I always encourage you to attend yoga with an instructor trained in pregnancy care so that you are confident your practise is safe and beneficial for your body.

Prenatal yoga itself overflows with benefits in your body and mind care.  Carly is a student midwife and trained in prenatal yoga, so you can be certain her knowledge about your body care and yoga practise means you are safe in her care.

I have dietary requirements. Should I bring my own food?

No need at all.

Gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian, vegan, paleo, general dislikes.....just let me know.

With a background as chef for many years, and a keen interest in nutrition, I am comfortable in catering to your needs. All I need from you is communication to let me know. I pride myself in combining delicious and nutritious. And yes. We will be speaking on the power and value of food at some point in your day.

The day sounds amazing, but I am not sure about meditations or pelvic bowl sweeps or sound healings. I'm not sure if this is for me?

All I can suggest is open yourself to the experience and try.

The meditations will be short and simply done. A process to help you relax and connect, bringing a little self awareness.

The pelvic bowl sweep is a simple process encouraging you to release any fears or anxieties.

The sound healing is something like nothing else. It is a privilege and opportunity I 100% encourage you to experience. I would not be surprised to see you booking in for a private 1:1 session to follow.

Embrace the experiences lovely and your day will be so much more.

What happens if Covid-19 rears its head and causes lockdowns/restrictions again?

Well I certainly hope not, but in this crazy world we certainly need to prepare for anything. If covid-19 does intervene and cause lockdowns/restrictions, or if you yourself are asked to isolate due to contact or having Covid-19, your full money will be refunded.

**On refunds.....

Please note, apart from Covid-19, or your bub arriving earlier than expected, once purchased your ticket is non-refundable. Tickets are very limited in numbers as we value the intimacy of a group so you have opportunity to make real connections. For this reason refunds cannot be exchanged for a last minute change of heart.

Under emergency circumstance you may apply for refund at our discretion.

You may also transfer your ticket to another Mama-to-be. Please let me know immediately if you do this so I can fairly update this Mama so she can come prepared in order to experience the very best on her special Blessing Day.

Where is the Mama Blessing Retreat happening?

Our day will be held in in the beautiful Glass House Mountains, Sunshine Coast in a space set up specifically for supporting women through all stages and needs in life.
